The importation of right-hand-drive Japanese used vehicles into Uganda is open to dealers and private buyers, subject to a maximum vehicle age of 10 years from the year of manufacture, in accordance with regulations effective July 2025. All shipments must undergo a mandatory JEVIC roadworthiness inspection in Japan and obtain transit clearance at Mombasa prior to final processing by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
